4 Day trekking tour at Ecuador's mountainous region along the Condor Route to/from Quito

Day 1

Depart Quito to the volcanic lake

You will leave Quito at around 9 am, and a private car will drive you along the cloud forests nearby Papallacta. The same path taken by South American conqueror Francisco de Orellana, who discovered the Amazon in colonial times. The Condor path begins in the Tambo region, where you will have a marvelous view of the Páramo grass and flower meadows during your hike. After lunch, you will hike for around 4 hours and reach the volcanic lake at around 4 to 5 pm. You will set up your camping site.

Duration of hike: 6 hours Dinner and overnight at 3320 meters

Day 2

Hiking at Santa Lucía Lake

Breakfast begins at 8 am, and we will leave the volcanic lake at 9 am and head to Santa Lucia Lake. This short hike will bring us up the Paramo, a truly wonderful place to spot the Andean Condor and Golden Eagle. After lunch, we will continue with the hike and cross the beautiful landscape near Antisana to see the astounding glaciers. If the weather is good, we will get to enjoy a clear view of the panoramic landscape surrounding us, as well as see the Cotopaxi volcano on the horizon. We will arrive at Santa Lucia lake around 4 or 5 pm and begin building our camping spot for the night.

Day 3

Hiking at Mica Lake and Carmen River

Breakfast begins at 8 am and we begin our journey towards the El Carmen river from 9 am onwards. On our way, we will cross an extensive plain with a wonderful view of the Andean peaks and the mica lake, the highlights of this area. Andean eagles and condors are often sighted along this route as well. After lunch, we continue the hike and arrive at the next campsite on the El Carmen river around 4 or 5 pm. We will set up our campsite here.

Day 4

Hiking at Sincholagua Mountain and Cotopaxi National Park

Breakfast begins at 8 am and we will leave the Carmen River at 9 am. The path today leads us through gorgeous fields where the Andean Eagle, Condor, Llamas and other wild animals are often sighted. During today's hike, we will pass by the foot of the vibrant Sincholagua mountain, with its colorful rocks that come from natural volcanic minerals in the Andes. We will take a break during the hike to enjoy our lunch. After an energizing break, we will make our way to the Cotopaxi National park to see the Pita river. Our day ends at the Tambopaxi lodge, where you get to enjoy a marvelous view of the Cotopaxi volcano.
