Diving at "Las Tijeretas"
The departure of this diving tour is at 9:00 a.m. from the tourist pier. From there a boat will take you towards "Las Tijeretas" hill, an underwater mountain at the foot of the frigatebird rock. Here you will do a check dive with your diving guide and enjoy a first immersion. In this site you can spot sea turtles, rays, manta rays, eels, many schools of tropical fish and swim with the playful sea lions. This site also offers great underwater photography opportunities.
Caragua Wreck or Roca Ballena
In the afternoon there are two possible diving sites. The guide will choose the site depending on the currents. The first option is "Bahia Nufragio", at the site called "Caragua wreck" where a 60-70 m (300 feet) long WWI ship sunk in the 1900. Reefs have formed since then all around the wreck, becoming a home for a wide range of wildlife including sea horses, lobsters, starfish and sea urchins. The second option is the newly reopened dive site Roca Ballena where a variety of sharks can be spotted (blacktip reef shark, Galapagos shark and hammerhead shaks) and big fish such as barracudas and various Tunfish.
The return towards San Critobal will be at around 13:00h.
