Day 1
Trip to Lago Agrio
Arrival as planned. In the border region with Colombia lies the town of Lago Agrio (actually Nueva Loja), where the Amazon lowlands begin.
Transfer to the lodge
After a welcome by the park guide, you will start your jungle journey through the park with a ride to the lodge on the beautiful, meandering Cuyabeno River. A fascinating ride on this tributary of the Amazon will take you to the lodge.
Guided hike through the rainforest
Later, take a night walk in the forest and get very close to the amphibians and reptiles that live here. Then return to the lodge for a welcome drink and dinner.
Day 2
Visit to an indigenous community
After breakfast, you will visit the Siona-Secoya community of Tarapuy accompanied by our naturalist guides who will explain the culture and traditions. You will also be shown how to make earrings, necklaces, shigras (woven bags) and cassava (yuca bread).
In the afternoon, you will enjoy the magic of nature along the Cuyabeno River and listen to the calls of birds, monkeys and - if we are lucky - catch a glimpse of pink dolphins and much more.
Day 3
Excursion into the rainforest
After breakfast, you will board a motorised canoe and visit the large lagoon where you will walk through the primary forest. Your naturalist guide will explain a lot about the flora and fauna as well as the different uses of medicinal plants. You will then enjoy the sunset on the horizon of the large lagoon before returning to the lodge in the evening to watch the alligators.
Day 4
Bird watching and drive to Lago Agrio
Enjoy wildlife viewing on the Cuyabeno River at 6:00 am before returning for breakfast. Depart the lodge at 9:30am for El Puente (arriving in Lago Agrio at 4:00pm) and return to Quito by bus or plane.
Depature
Continue as planned.
